WIWB Outage?

Anyone else having an issue with WIWB? Since last night, I haven't been able to get WIWB OTA on my media center PC or my 2 regular TVs. All the other stations work fine. I checked my antenna and there are no issues with it and nothing has changed with it. So, anyone else having issues or is it just me?

It's not on U-Verse either.

It's not on U-Verse either. There's just a message stating that "This Program Provider is Experiencing Technical Difficulties". WIWB-DT, 1014.

On Charter Communications,

On Charter Communications, there is just a freeze-frame of a hospital scene on cable channel 13, WIWB. Apparently when the "DTV Test" happened the other week, Charter began carrying the digital versions of broadcast signals and converting those signals to analog for the cable system's basic lineup. Time Warner must be carrying the analog version if it's still live on the system.

We’re replacing our

We’re replacing our digital antenna – the previous one was faulty, and the new one should be much more reliable. Unfortunately, replacing the antenna meant we had to go off-air with our digital signal.
The installation took a bit longer than expected -- the new antenna is significantly larger than the previous one, and that's presented a few challenges. However, we expect to have our digital signal restored before 7pm tonight (Dec. 12th.)
With the new antenna, we will be able to provide a more reliable digital signal.
We appreciate viewer's patience!

Hey Jeff, Thank you for the

Hey Jeff,

Thank you for the information. I am using an antenna. 14-1 (WIWB-HD) is gone but 14 (WIWB) is still there. Glad to hear your are putting up a larger, better digital antenna.

*** New question – Are you going to add any more broadcast channels like 14-2? ***

Channel 2 (WBAY) now has three different digital broadcast channels, 2-1 (same as 2,just digital high definition), 2-2(weather channel), 2-3(a rerun network). PBS also has three, 38-1 (same as 38, just digital high def) 38-2(The Wisconsin channel) and 38-3 (create)

I’d like to see you and the remaining green bay channels all pick up one or two more channels.

For those that do not know, counting only free over the air digital broadcast channels in the Green Bay area, there are now 11 channels. A person from WLUK did tell me they are looking at adding at least one more.

We don't have any plans at

We don't have any plans at the moment to add another digital channel (multicasting, they call it.) That may change, but nothing on the immediate horizon.

Our digital signal is back

Our digital signal is back up! We returned to the air at around 2:30pm on Friday, Dec. 12th.
You may need to autoscan for channels if you have a tv with a digital tuner, or a converter box. Check your instruction manual for details on autoscanning for channels.
Thank you for your patience. We hope you enjoy the signal from our new antenna!

Thank you Jeff. I did need

Thank you Jeff.

I did need to re-scan but now I am getting a great signal. We are now at 10 of 10 bars in signal strength. The picture is great on a 50” plasma Samsung.

I am watching ‘Everyone hates Chris” and I’m noticing a bit of a picture / sound delay. The people’s lips movements do not match the sound of the person talking. Its not terrible but its there.

You are welcome to come see it. If you wish to do that please email me at presentation_rentals at yahoo dot com.

I am in Greenville, using a full size outdoor digital style antenna but it’s inside the attack of our 2 story home.

I’m aimed at 87 degrees, almost straight east. The closest major intersection is highways 15 & 76.

Please keep up the good work, and thank you for taking the time to communicate with us.

Glad to see it back on the

Glad to see it back on the air. The new antenna seems to have improved signal strength. WIWB used to be the lowest strength station I received, 26/27ish out of 30. Now I get 30 out of 30.

I too noticed a picture/sound delay. I noticed it before the new antenna also. I'm not sure if all the shows are like that, I know Friends is for sure. I've tested it on multiple TVs and converter boxes and they all seem to do it.

I brought your comments to

I brought your comments to the attention of our chief engineer -- he said:

"I have made a small adjustment not sure how much this will help."

From our digital signal FAQ: Audio Sync Issues

It’s very frustrating when audio doesn’t sync up with the video.

If you have cable, software issues within the cable box can cause issues. Ask your cable provider if your cable box needs to be updated, or if the cable box’s software can be updated.

Home audio theaters can also occasionally cause sync issues.

I do know that audio can really be an issue with digital. Here's a couple of good articles:

Hope that helps!
